The Trustees of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds will release updated projections for the programs’ finances imminently. Last year the Trustees report indicated that Social Security’s primary trust fund, the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund, is on track to deplete its reserves in 2033, and Medicare’s Hospital Insurance trust fund is on track to do so by 2031.
